Speed up the load of Acrobat Reader .:

1.  Get Acrobat to open as an application - rather than within Internet Explorer

~ Acrobat Reader 5.0

run - Programs / Adobe Reader 5.0
     when Acrobat Reader opens
        menu - Edit / Preferences
            options - Web Browser options
                uncheck Display PDF in Browser
                uncheck Allow Fast Web View

~ Acrobat Reader 6.0
  run - Programs / Adobe Reader 6.0
    when Acrobat Reader opens
       menu - Edit / Preferences
           Internet - Web Browser options
                uncheck Display PDF in Browser
                uncheck Allow Fast Web View

2. Stop unwanted features from loading

~ Acrobat Reader 6.0 ONLY
open Windows Explorer
         Program Files / Adobe / Acrobat 6.0 / Reader
           create a new directory plug_ins_disabled
           copy all files and folders from plug_ins to plug_ins_disabled EXCEPT 2 files - EWH32.api and Search.api

done
    Viewing and searching PDFs will continue to work OK and Acrobat will load much faster
