How many countries and tournaments have you visited as a Coach?

Too many to mention, I’ve been lucky to travel in Europe as a player and to many other Asian, European and of course Oceania countries as a coach.

Some may not know your background who have you worked for in the past?

I played many events throughout Great Britain and Europe as a player.  Then I started coaching with the English U21 squad.  Moved to Australia in 1996 as the South Australia coach.  Returned to work in England as Coaching Manager in 1998 through to 2001.  In 2001 I moved to Australia as national coach.  At the end of 2003 I joined Badminton NZ as National Coach and High Performance Manager.

What are your career highlights to date?

I had many coaching highlights in England, Australia and NZ.  I enjoy watching the players perform at the best level they can and also seeing how they respond when they have not gone so well.  Event highlights would be NZ’s 1st win in the Oceania Champs (Robson Shield) in 2004, the Big Whyte Trophy win in 2005 and of course coaching Dan and Sara when they won the bronze medal at the World Champs.

What you are Doing Now?

I’m doing some private coaching and talent development consultancy.  Also working with a few companies on training issues and management.

What do you want to do from here on?

Would love to get involved in coaching higher end athletes plus helping people develop talent id and development programs.  I like to assist athletes in developing their potential.
