NZ Team in World Junior Champs is in Same Group as Thailand, Russia and Pakistan.

 

Teams play off with others who finish in the same place as them in their sub group.  E.g. 3rd place in X1 play 3rd place in X2.   They then go to a knock out group between W,X,Y and Z

 

There are 8 Groups.

 

Group W1  Korea, Australia, Czech Republic and Botswana 

Group W2  Germany, India, Vietnam, Macau

Group X1   Malaysia, Chinese Taipei, Ukraine, Philippine

Group X2  Denmark, Japan, Canada, South Africa

Group Y1  Indonesia, Hong Kong, Netherlands, Mongolia

Group Y2  England, Singapore, Bulgaria, Sri Lanka

Group Z1  China, USA, Turkey, Egypt

Group Z2  Thailand, New Zealand, Russia, Pakistan

 

 

China Scoop Titles at the PICC China Open wining four of the 5 titles – Mens and Women Singles, Womens Doubles and Mixed.

 

Mens Singles

Chen Hong beat Bao Chunlai 21-17, 21-19 (Bao had earlier beaten Lin Dan).

 

Women Singles

Zhang Ning beat Yao Jie 21-14, 21-5

 

Mens Doubles

Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan (Indonesia) beat Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng 21-16, 21-16

It was an important win for the young and promisng Indonesian Doubles pair.

 

Womens Doubles

Zhang Jiewen / Yang Wei beat Zhang Wei / Zhao Tingting 21-17, 21-7

 

Mixed Doubles

Xie Zhongbo / Zhang Yawen beat Xu Chen /  Xia Xuanze 21-19, 21-5
